Girl Dies After Home Catches Fire

EL PASO — A three-year-old girldied on Tuesday from injuries she receivedwhen her home caught on fire, El Paso Fire Department officials confirmed.

Some 10 unitswere summonedto the housealong the 3700 block of Van Buren in Central El Paso shortly before noon.

Crews tookthe girl’sfather to William Beaumont Army Medical Center and laterairlifted him to the Timothy J. Harnar Burn Center in Lubbock.

The young girl died while being treated at Thomason Hospital.

Neighbors and emergency personnel comfortedfamily membersas thepatients were takenaway in ambulances.

Some neighbors said they were shocked to see fire crews pulling the father and child out of the house after having been on the scene for some time. “We thought there were no people in the house,” said neighbor James Carillo. “I thought they had already pulled them out the first time they got here.”
