Water Main Break In South Central El Paso

EL PASO — A water main leak in South Central El Paso left nearly twodozenhouseholds without running water early Thursday morning.

Officials with the El Paso Water Utility said a 4-inch pipecrackedandbegan leakingjust after 1:30a.m.near the intersection of French Place and Comanche Avenue.

Crewswith El Paso Water Utilities shut offservice to as many as 20 homes in the neighborhood. On close inspection, crews founda hole in the pipe,about four inches wide.

The advanced age of the pipe and cold weather are considered as probable culpritsfor the rupture, crewssaid.A section of the pipe was replaced andservice was restoredjust after nine a.m.
