El Paso County Sues Former Vendor

By MARTIN BARTLETT

EL PASO — El Paso County Attorney Jose Rodriguez has filed suit against a former county vendor linked to the on-going federal public corruption investigation.

Rodriguez filed the suit against Ruben “Sonny” Garcia, owner of LKG Enterprises, Inc., on Wednesday in the 168th District Court.

The suit alleges that LKG failed to provide the services it contracted with the county to provide for the Border Children’s Mental Health Collaborative.

The suit says LKG’s alleged failure cost the county more than $500,000 in 2005 and 2006.

Last summer, Travis Ketner, former chief of staff for County Judge Anthony Cobos, plead guilty to charges that he and others sought and took bribes to shield Garcia and LKG from criminal investigations.

The allegations outlined in Ketner’s guilty plea have neither been independently proven nor disproven.
