NMSU Basketball Players Released After Being Arrested

By Miguel Martinez

LAS CRUCES — Two players with the New Mexico State University Basketball team are out of jail after having been arrested earlier for failing to appear in court.

Jahmar Young and Chris Cole, both point guards for NMSU, were arrested for failing to appear in courtfor separate incidents.

Young was charged with indecent exposure in July and had been scheduled to appear in November. When he did not, a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Cole was charged with driving without a license and had a court date set for December, for which he too, did not appear. He had been scheduled to pay the fine for the charge.

Officials with the university said both players were arrested after voluntarily turning themselves in per a university policy.

“They both were actually arrested as a part of policy of when you have a bench warrant issued. Both of them turned themselves in. They were going to take care of the matter because they’re kids; they have to grow up,” said NMSU Coach Marvin Menzies.

Both have been released and are expected to play in Thursday’s game against Boise State University.
