Commanding General Leaves Fort Bliss
FORT BLISS, Texas (AP) – The general who helped start one of the largest post transformations in the Army is leaving his position.
Maj. General Robert P. Lennox, who has help start a $3 billion expansion at Fort Bliss and oversaw the start of its transformation from an air defense artillery post to the future home of the 1st Armored Division, formally relinquished command Wednesday.
Lennox, who was awarded the German Armed Forces Cross of Honor and the Distinguished Service Medal before leaving the West Texas post just outside El Paso, will be stationed next in Washington, D.C., where he will become the deputy chief of staff for operations.
Maj. General Howard B. Bromberg is scheduled to take command of the sprawling post later this month.
