Man Wanted For Firing Weapon At Vehicle Arrested After Tip
DONA ANA COUNTY, N.M. –Investigators with the Dona Ana County Sheriff’s Office arrested a suspect in connection with shooting at a vehicle in April, 2007 in Anthony, New Mexico.
Deputies arrested 20-year-old Jesus Castillo early Thursday afternoon in connection with what they allege was a gang-related shooting.
They said Castillo fired three times at a vehicle near the intersection ofLee and Monroe streets, wherea passengerwas hit with some type of shrapnel.
The driver took the injured passenger to Las Palmas Hospital where he was treated and released the same evening.
A warrant was issued for Castillo’s arrest back in May, 2007 based on probable cause, but detectives had been unable to locate him since.
An anonymous tipalerted deputies with the sheriff’s office Thursday to Castillo’s location and he was arrested without incident. He was charged with one count of aggravated battery, one count of aggravated assault, and one count of shooting at or from a motor vehicle, all felonies.
He was booked and jailed at the Dona Ana County Detention Center.
