Rosary Held For EP Native Killed While Working For BP In Yuma

EL PASO — Family, friends and colleagues offered prayers for a Sun City native that was killed while working for the Border Patrol in Yuma, Arizona.

A private rosary for Luis Aguilar, 32, was held Sunday at Mt. Carmel Funeral Home. A color guard posted colors before the ceremony, which was only open to family and close friends of the agent.

Aguilar was killed while he was trying to stop a Hummer that was trying to get back into Mexico after it’s occupants were spotted engaging in illegal activity on the American side of the border near Yuma. Officials say Aguilar was trying to place a tire deflater in the path of the Hummer while he was run over.

A funeral ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church.

Aguilar was a graduate of El Paso High and graduated from the National Border Patrol Academy in 2002.
