Fire Crews Say Railyard Fire Was Arson
EL PASO –As many as sevenunits with the El Paso Fire Department responded to a fire on Sundayat a railroad yard on the 1800 block of E. San. Antonio in Downtown El Paso.
First responders reported heavy smoke and flames coming from a railroad bridge going over a canal, fire authorities said.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire and brought the fire under control within 15 minutes. There were no reported injuries.
Investigators determined that the fire was intentionally set and ruled the fire as arson. Witnesses reported seeing as many as four male juveniles running away from the scene prior to the start of the fire. Total damages to the railroad bridge were estimated at $5,000.00.
