Dallas Police Say Serial Rapist Has Attacked Again

DALLAS (AP) – Police are warning that a serial rapist responsible for numerous Dallas assaults in 2005 has struck again, bringing the total number of attacks to 10.

“Until we can get him off the street, there’s no guarantee that he’s not going to hit again,” Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse, a Dallas police spokesman, said Wednesday.

Eight women were attacked in 2005, and Janse said that based on witness information it was apparent they were all by the same suspect. There were no similar attacks in 2006, but last fall another victim described the same suspect, he said.

The latest attack came Sunday. The suspect approaches women on foot as they are getting out of their vehicles, often late at night or early in the morning, Janse said.

After a brief conversation he produces a handgun, pushes the victim into the vehicle and forces them to have sex. Janse said the suspect has said the same thing on numerous occasions.

Janse said police don’t know why there was a lull in the attacks in 2006, but they are trying to determine if he may have been in jail or out of state.

He said that police are stepping up patrol in the area and in apartment complexes, where many of the attacks have occurred.
