Teenagers Arrested In Triple-Killings On Remote East Texas Ranch
EMORY, Texas (AP) – Church services in the rural town of Emory were filled with grief today after police charged a teenage girl, forced by her parents to breakup with a boyfriend, with helping kill most of her family.
The pre-dawn raid on the home of Terry and Penny Caffey a day earlier left the girl’s mother and two brothers dead and her bloodied father crawling through the woods for help.
Penny Caffey and her two sons, ages 8 and 13, were shot and stabbed repeatedly in the pre-dawn attack Saturday.
Terry Caffey, the father, remains in critical but stable condition after police say he crawled 300 yards to his closest neighbor while his house burned to the ground with his family inside.
The 16-year-old girl, who police confirmed as the family’s daughter but whose name was withheld because of her age, was arraigned today on three counts of capital murder and was being held on $1.5 million bond.
Three others between the ages of 18 and 20, including the girl’s suspected boyfriend, were arraigned on the same charges and given the same bond.
