Mother Searches For Missing Daughter

DEMING, New Mexico -A Deming girl is missing after she left home Monday without telling anyone where she was going.Hermothersaid she believes the bus company she used to get away could have prevented her from leaving.

Erika Armstrong wants to know why the company let her 12-year-old daughter on the bus without asking questions.

“I just want her home so I can hold her. I just, I just want her home so I can tell her I love her so much.”

Armstrong came home from work Monday and her daughter Brittany Trantham was gone. Afterhanging upflyers of her missing girl’s pictureWednesday night, Armstrong got a call from a woman who saw Trantham at the Greyhound bus stop in Deming.

The concerned mother called police and later found out that Trantham had a bus ticket to travel from Deming to Baytown, Texas. Trantham may have even stopped in downtown El Paso along the way.

Armstrong said she asked a greyhound employee how a 12-year-old was able to get on the bus alone.

“He said I knew she was lying to me. I knew she wasn’t 15 years old. So apparently she just told him she was 15. He got her signature and he let her on the bus, ” Armstrong said.

“The circumstances in this given situation gave us no reason to deny travel,” said Greyhound Bus Line spokesman Dustin Clark.

Armstrong believes her daughter met a boy on myspace who may have “brainwashed” her into leaving her family, without saying a word about why she left.

“My fear is that she’ll neve come home,” Armstrong said.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is also handling the case. To view their website, click here.
