Two Women From TX Shot In Juarez

CIUDAD JUAREZ, Chihuahua – A mother and daughter from Presidio, Texas, are in the hospital recovering from gunshot wounds after they were caught in a hail of bullets in Juarez Wednesday night, according to Chihuahua State Police.
Investigators were busy late into the night trying to piece together what was the latest in a string of deadly shootings in Juarez, this one just blocks from the trendy Pronaf district.
Investigators found 19 shell casings at the scene.
The U.S. consulate in Juarez said Bertha Ramos, 61, of Presidio, is a permanent U.S. resident.
They said her daughter, Elizabeth Valenzuela, 31, also of Presidio, is a Mexican citizen.
An infant was in the truck, too; he wasn’t hurt.
Both women are in the hospital recovering. The truck they were driving in had Texas plates. Records show it was owned by a man in Presidio, althoughit isregistered to El Paso County.
Police are also investigating another shooting involving a car with Texas plateson Wednesday.
A man was shot to death on Avenida de la Raza.
According to tax records, the car he was driving was registered in El Paso County. We don’t yet know his name or why he might have been shot.
On Thursday, police were called to anothershooting in a place familiar to many El Pasoans.
Chihuahua State Police tell ABC-7 a man was shot in the parking lot of Las Missiones Mall.
That’s shopping center is home to VIP Cinema movie theatre, a high-end movie theatre which serves meals during movie presentations. It’s a place many El Pasoansvisit in Juarez.
