Texas Retail Gasoline Prices Continue To Set Record Highs

HOUSTON (AP) – Regular self-serve gasoline price averages continued to close in on $4 per gallon this week across Texas for the first time.

Regular self-serve averaged $3.93 per gallon,eight cents more than last week, according to the weekly AAA Texas gas price survey released Friday. The national average already reached $4.06 per gallon,seven cents more than last week.

“Record high crude prices are the primary reason motorists are seeing almost daily increases,” said AAA Texas spokeswoman Rose Rougeau. “Crude oil surged above $136 a barrel this week.”

The state’s most expensive regular-grade gasoline was in Dallas, where the average price rose 7 cents this week to $3.94 per gallon. The cheapest gas in Texas was in Amarillo, where it rose 6 cents to $3.89 per gallon.

Amarillo – $3.893, up 6.4 cents

Austin-San Marcos – $3.920, up 7.8 cents

Beaumont – $3.927, up 6.9 cents

Corpus Christi – $3.916, up 8.7 cents

Dallas – $3.936, up 7.1 cents

El Paso – $3.900, up 6.8 cents

Fort Worth – $3.933, up 7.2 cents

Galveston-Texas City – $3.917, up 8.6 cents

Houston – $3.918, up 8.2 cents

San Antonio – $3.905, up 7.6 cents

Texarkana (Texas only) – $3.895, up 8.8 cents

State – $3.931, up 7.6 cents

Nationally – $4.060, up 7.1 cents
