UPDATE: Noisemaker Was Unknown Device That Caused Evacuations
EL PASO, Texas – A noisemaker caused the evacuation of several residents at an Eastside apartment complex Tuesday morning, police said.
Several El Paso police and fire units were called to the Linda Vista Apartments after a resident reported hearing a popping sound.
Police evacuated the complexin the 1500 block of Magruder Streetas a precaution, while they investigated the object the sounds were coming from. Authorities said they wanted to make sure the item was not a danger to residents.
After taking the device to thecomplex’s office, authorities determined the device was just a noisemaker and posed no threat to residents.
