Horizon City Man Killed In Auto Accident Near Colorado City

COLORADO CITY, Texas — Two men, one of whom was from Horizon City, were killed in an auto accidentnear Colorado City, Texas, on Saturday, according to the Colorado City Record newspaper.

According to the Record, thirty-six-year-old Juan Dominguez of Horizon City was driving on highway I-20 about three miles west of Colorado City about 8:05 p.m. Saturday when the semi trailer and cab he was driving hydroplaned on wet pavement and began to jackknife.

The truck collided with the guard rail in a ditch then struck a concrete pillar of the overpass. The cab separated from the trailer and came to rest in the center median and westbound lanes of I-20.

Dominguez’ passenger, 48-year-old Ricardo Perez was ejected from the vehicle and died on impact. Dominguez was transported to Mitchell County Hospital where he later died, according to the Record.
