Man Charged With Capital Murder In Death Of Infant Son
EL PASO, Texas — A man has been charged with capital murder in the death of his 10-month-old son, according to El Paso County Jail records.
Last Thursday investigators detained 23-year-old Erick Aguilera at a Northeast home on the 9500 block of Verbena.
He was charged with injury to a child. On Monday, Aguilera was charged with capital murder – person under six years.
According to a complaint affidavit obtained by ABC-7, officials at Thomason Hospital called police after they saw the infant had a fractured skull.
The affidavit states the infant was admitted to the hospital Nov. 5 for treatment of a fracture on the top and sides of the head and accumulation of blood inside the skull.
According to the document, Aguilera told police he had been with the boy about noon Wednesday. It states, “[Aguilera] was showering with child and when the child began to cry, he shook the child hard.” Aguilera “admits observing the child’s head and limbs snap forward and backwards” and that “the child slipped out of his hands causing the child to strike his head on the tile wall and then struck his head on the tile floor where he lay unresponsive.”
