Texas To Require Background Checks On Repairmen

For the first time, the state of Texas will require background checks for repairmen. The state hopes to catch violent ex-cons, felons and other criminals.

The law was passed in the state legislature in the last session. Before the law, all anyone had to do was check “no” on the part of a licensing application that asked about criminal convictions.

Now residents can ask to see past convictions before hiring a contractor or repairmen.
