EL PASO — ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” is coming tothe Sun Cityand the show made a major announcement Friday morning.
Producers with the show saidEl Paso builder Desert View Homes will team up with local contractors to build a home and change the life ofa local family.
“We need all of El Paso,” said Steve Power, with Desert View Homes, “We’re gonna need about 2,000 people to make this happen.”
It doesn’t usually take that many people to build a home, but as it can be seen from many past episodes, the show needs all the help it can get when it only has a week to finish the home.
“We’re looking for anyone who has skills, or just time,” said Power. “We need electricians, carpenters, plumbers, you name it, we need it.”
The show traveled across the country and finally settled on El Paso as one of their next destinations.”I was just very honored that our city was chosen,” said Randy Powers, the owner of Desert View Homes.
“We’re changing lives and we’re changing the lives of the people that are volunteering to help as well,” said Steve. “This has been a very rewarding experience for us and I’m sure everybody else that gets involved will feel the same way.”
The winning family will be announced later this year.
