Extreme Makeover: Home Edition A Hit With Local Businesses

By ABC-7 Reporter Marissa Monroy

EL PASO, Texas — Extreme Makeover: Home Edition isn’t just an ABC hit — it’s also a big hit with local businesses.

“Sincerely El Paso” has been the motto during the filming of the show this week because without the help from businesses in El Paso, the building of the home would not have been possible.

“I haven’t seen this. I don’t think I’ve ever seen this,” said city Rep. Emma Acosta. Acosta is amazed at the outpouring of help to put together a nearly one-million dollar project.

“It’s actually a great impact,” Acosta said.

Businesses from hotels to nail salons are expected to bring in extra money this week.

And local businesses are pitching in to help with everything from electricity to furniture. They are making sure that thousands of volunteers have enough energy to finish the job.

With so many area businesses taking part in the project, most of the estimated one million dollars that will be spent on the project will stay in El Paso.
