Miami-Bound Plane Makes Emergency Landing In El Paso
EL PASO, Texas — A jetliner that was diverted to the El Paso International Airport on its way to Miami landed safely on a runway about noon on Monday, according to Liz Bellegarde, a spokeswoman with the airport.
The American Airlines 767 jet departed from Los Angeles. None of the 170 passengers aboard were injured. The pilot had shut down one of the plane’s engines.
No smoke was coming from the engine. Fire units checked the plane’s engines and tires as a precaution.
The plane departed the El Paso airport for Miami just after 3 p.m.
