Through these tough and uncertain economic times, many of us have had to tighten the belt here and there in order to stay afloat.
But some are using these lifestyle changes to redefine the meaning of home.
Mobile homes are RVs are growing in popularity, and those we spoke to say even if it isn’t a traditional home, it’s better than not having a roof over their head at all.
Gilbert Gutierrez, who opted for a mobile home, says he can make his payments while escaping the risk of foreclosure associated with traditional-style houses.
Gutierrez is one of a growing number of people who are trying to navigate the turbulent waters of this economy by living in a smaller space.
The Gaslight Square Mobile Home Park in Canutillo is seeing its numbers grow. Property Manager Karen Arnold says the homes are selling fast.
The cost of one of these homes ranges between $35,000 to $40,000, a rather low-risk investment.
One mobile home resident says her husband is the only one working between the two of them, so they would still be able to pay for their home even he lost his job.
