Rescue Crews Respond To Stranded Hiker At Hueco Tanks

A search and rescue team from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call from a stranded hiker Saturday afternoon.

The 26-year-old man was trying to jump from one boulder to another at the Hueco Tanks State Historic Site, according to park superintendent Wanda Olszewski, but did not make it and injured his ankle.

The rescue was difficult for the crew because of where the hiker landed.

Park rangers remind people to always hike with friends, wear good shoes, take plenty of water, and carry a cellphone if possible.
