Commissioners Buy New Car To Replace One Used By Ramos
EL PASO — County Commissioners approved about $20,000 to replace a 2004 Chevy Impala used by former Precinct 6 Constable Mario Ramos.
As the ABC-7 I-Team has reported, Ramos has been indicted for allegedly raping a woman and shooting a man and was fired.
That car is currently being held by the Sheriff’s Office as evidence in Ramos’ upcoming trial.
“It could take six months, could take a year” before the car is released from evidence, said County Purchasing Agent Piti Vasquez.
Vasquez also described the car as “pretty beat up”, saying the Precinct 6 constable would likely need a new car anyway.
