CBP Seizes 15 Lbs. Of Cocaine From Van’s Engine Block

EL PASO, Texas — Customs and Border Protection officers seized 15 lbs. of cocaine from inside the engine block of an Astro van on Monday morning, CBP officials said.

The seizure was made during an enforcement sweep at the Ysleta international crossing. A drug sniffing dog alerted officers to the van. The driver seemed nervous during questioning, so officers performed a more thorough inspection of the van and found 12 cocaine-filled bundles in the engine block, officials said.

The estimated street value of the seized cocaine is $450,000.
