Officials: 12 New Confirmed Cases Of H1N1 Swine Flu In El Paso Co.
The City of El Paso’s Department of Public Health has confirmed 12 new cases of the H1N1 “swine flu” virus in El Paso County.
This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the county to 19.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta confirmed the test results and have yet to determine results from 21 other lab samples sent from El Paso.
The ages of the 12 people afflicted with the H1N1 virus range from a two-year-old boy to a 39-year-old man. According to the health department, the local cases were mild and all of these people recovered “without any complications.”
El Paso’s Department of Public Health reminds people to wash their hands frequently, to cover their coughs, and to stay home if they are ill.
