The fate of a former Fort Bliss soldier accused of raping and murdering a woman 20 years ago is in the hands of a jury.
Jurors spent the past four days listening to testimony in the case of 45-year-old Bryan Earl Tilford, who is accused of killing 31-year-old Rosalina Reyes in May of 1989.
Reyes was found dead inside an elevator after she had been raped and then stabbed and strangled to death.
Tilford had lived at the same Eastside apartment complex as Reyes at the time of the killing.
The defense, in closing arguments Friday morning, argued that police had never found any DNA linking Tilford to the murder.
The prosecution argued Tilford knew specific details about the crime.
The jury heard arguments for four hours Friday afternoon before adjourning and is expected to reconvene Saturday morning at 9am.
