Castro Fails To Defeat Robinson; Set For Run-Off

EL PASO — District 4 City Representative Melina Castrofailed to secure her seat against her mainchallenger, Carl L. Robinson, and will now have todefend her seat in a run-off election.

The unofficial final figures show Robinson with 1,674 votes andCastro with 1,289. That puts Robinson at 35% to Castro’s 27%. Robinson needed to secure more than 50% of the votes to knock Castro off the city council seat.

Hetold ABC-7 he was happy with the turnout and is ready to seal the deal in the run-off election.

Castro said she was not ready to give up her seat and is ready forthe run-off election. “I will just continue to talk to voters and be their voice and ears,” she told ABC-7, “I will continue to work hard.
