Husband Allegedly Ties Up Wife, Threatens Her With Gun
EL PASO COUNTY — Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man accused of threatning and physically assaulting his wife, El Paso County Sheriff’s Spokesman Jesse Tovar said Tuesday.
Jaime Morillo Murguia, 27, of the 12700 block of Montana, was arrested Sunday and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Family Violence, Unlawful Restraint/Family Violence, and Terroristic Threat/Family Violence.
According to Tovar, a woman walked into the Sheriff’s Montana Patrol Station Sunday and said her husband assaulted her on Saturday. The alleged victim told authorities that a verbal argument escalated into the confrontation andher husband, Murillo Murguia, proceeded to choke her.
Murguia then allegedly threatened to kill her with a gun and tied her up with duct tape, Tovar added.
An investigation revealed Murguia was wanted on an outstanding Driving While Intoxicated Criminal Warrant. A protective order was placed on Murguia at the victim’s request, Tovar said.
Murguia remains at the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $110,000 bond.
