Flash-Flood Watch In Effect For El Paso, Hudspeth Counties

EL PASO — The National Weather Service (NWS)has issued aflash-flood watch for portions of New Mexico and southwest Texas.

The watch is in effect forEl Pasoand Hudspeth counties beginning at Noon and continuing into the night.

Primary threatsinclude the flooding of arroyos and urbandrainage areas. Road flooding is also likely, especially at lowwater crossings.

A flash-flood watch means conditions may develop that leadto flooding.Residents areurged tomonitor later forecasts and be prepared to move away from flooded areas to higher ground.

The NWS expectsheavy rainfall across southwest and south-central NewMexico and far west Texas.

Officials saida moist plume of tropical air remains over the Borderland Monday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Monday afternoon and continue into the night. The slow-moving storms are expected toproduce heavy rainfall whichcould exceed two inches in some areas.
