Sheriff’s Office Seeks Suspected Con Man

EL PASO, Texas — He is described as charismatic, well-spoken and a charmer but authorities say there is nothing clean about the dealings of 46-year-old Jose Adrian Castillo.
The El Paso man is wanted by authorities on allegations that he has been defrauding people of their money.
“He’s been active in areas of forgery and fraud for some time,” El Paso County Sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Jesse Tovar said regarding the allegations against Castillo.
The hunt for the suspect is becoming the Sun City’s case of “Catch Me If You Can.”
According to sheriff’s officials, the suspected con man’s alleged latest scheme is misrepresenting himself as an entrepreneur in the Downtown Revitalization Project to get funding for projects that are not his.
Castillo reportedly then takes the money and runs.
In 2007, he was also wanted for accusations that he would run elaborate schemes to take cash from elderly women.
“It’s amazing to law enforcement that he’s been so active for so long in this area,” Tovar said.
And now authorities want to catch the suspected con man.
Castillo is described as a Hispanic male, 5-foot-10-inches tall, 200 pounds, with a light complexion, brown eyes and brown hair.
He is El Paso’s most wanted man this week, and investigators are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers of El Paso at 566-TIPS (8477).
