New Details Uncovered On Soldier Who Escaped Custody Of Bliss Guards

FORT BLISS, Texas — Military arrest records obtained by ABC-7 give more details on a Fort Bliss soldier who escaped custody ofpost guards last year.

Private Deandrez Robertson escaped on Dec. 10. Fort Bliss records show Robertson conspired with another soldier to buy a baseball bat with the intent to kill another soldier on July 18, 2008.

Days before that, he allegedly pointed a loaded shotgun at several other soldiers. None of them were hurt.

The records also state that during the investigation Robertson lied to investigators and asked others to do the same.

Then on Dec. 10, with the help of several friends, Robertson escaped custody while on post. The details on how he escaped are not given.

Robertson was found less than a week later getting off a bus in Kentucky. He is now back in custody awaiting a hearing on attempted murder charges.
