Dave Speelman: Our Upcoming (Updated) Winter Forecast

by ABC-7 StormTRACK Meteorologist Dave Speelman

Our winter weather forecast continues to be massaged just a bit. Below is the latest updated forecast for December, January and February all across the country.

The latest temperature forecast for the El Paso area is located below. The Climate Prediction Center is anticipating that our area will see an equal chance of having above, normal or below normal temperatures (basically another way of saying “I don’t really know”).

The latest precipitation outlook for El Paso is also located below. The model has El Paso in an area of slightly above normal precipitation – this could mean snow if the temperatures are cold enough. The reason for the above normal precipitation for the southern half of the country is due to an active southern jet stream or the position of the storm tracks. The track takes the storms from northern California down through Arizona, through El Paso and San Antonio, across through the Deep South and up to the Northeast.

I will continue to keep you updated as the fall continues.
