Woman Charged In Shooting Death Of Bliss Soldier

EL PASO — Police have arrested a woman in connection to the shooting death of Jacob Bige Engle, 24, a soldier stationed at Fort Bliss.

Police officials say Myra Rocio Delgadillo, 22, of the 1500 block of Magruder, is charged with Manslaughter in connection to the death of Engle.

According to investigators, Engle was at a house party in the 2200 block of Tierra Bonita in far east El Paso on Friday, December 19, 2009. Police responded tothe residence just after Midnight in reference to a shooting.

Investigators determined Engle had fallen asleep at the party and some of his friends were trying to wake him up. In their efforts to wake Engle up, police say, Delgadillo grabbed a gun that accidentally went off and struck him in the head.

Although Delgadillo has been charged in the death, police say the shooting was accidental.
