Fort Bliss Soldiers Reunite With Families
By ABC-7’s Marissa Monroy
It’s a sweet homecoming for Fort Bliss soldiers coming back from deployment.
Not even the cold Saturday winter night could take away from the excitement of these soldiers returning to U.S. soil.
Jennifer Hirt was waiting for her husband, and had their baby daughter with her. “I can’t imagine what he’s gonna think when he sees her running. He’s gonna have to catch her first, but when he does, they’re gonna have a great time together,” she said.
In the past year, these soldiers have missed out on everything from baby’s first steps to wedding anniversaries, but this year will be different for young Nick Parsons, who says, “my dad coming in…that would be the best present I would have in my life.”
Nick turns seven on Monday.
This is the second deployment for the Parsons family, and Nick’s mom Tammy says, “I’m sure the boys will be hugging and kissing and crying and everything else.”
But Tammy says this return will be just as special as the first. “To hear those words fall out and let ’em come and get us…that’s probably one of the best feelings ever,” she says.
Her Army husband says, “As we marched in, they were the first ones I saw. I almost broke ranks just to come over and start hugging them right there,” adding, “I’ve been looking forward to this day so much for the last twelve months. It’s so wonderful to have such a great family to come home to.”
With reunion after reunion, families were together again, ready to make up for lost time.
