Vandals Damage Cars, Apartments
EL PASO,Tx.- A run of vandalism in Northeast El Paso has some neighbors saying they’ve had enough.
The latest incident happened overnight at the Amberwood apartments on the 5200 block of Wren Avenue in Northeast El Paso.
El Paso Police are still investigating who threw rocks at several cars and blew out the windows.
One little girl was injured after a rock went through her living room window.
“There’s always people out here fighting and making a commotion,” said one neighbor who did not want to be identified.
Those who live at the Amberwood apartments are left picking up the pieces.
“The sad part is that this time a little girl got hurt,” the resident said.
She says several vehicles parked outside the apartments parking lot have broken windows.
“I have to now pay out of pocket ’cause my window’s broken ’cause some people don’t have anything better to do than to vandalize and to fight,” the resident said.
The vandals also threw rocks inside some apartments. One of them hit a little girl, “How crazy’s that, you’re sitting in your living room watching TV with your daughter and then this rock gets thrown into your window and your daughter gets hit.”
Joe chaparral says this isn’t the first time something like this happens, “There’s a lot of drugs, a lot of gangs.”
Chaparro says he was looking out his window when he heard a commotion outside, “People started arguing, fighting running back and forth, they started breaking the windows of the cars.”
Neighbors say police always come out, but they need more help.
“We don’t have a security guard or a patrol vehicle.”
ABC-7 asked to speak with the apartment manager, Michelle Andrade about the lack of security…she said she’d call us back, but we haven’t heard from her since.
“We all need to help out to improve our situation,” residents say they just want a safe place to live.
Police say they’re still investigating.
