Bio For Jay Kleberg, Candidate For State Rep. Dist. 78
NAME: Jay Kleberg
OFFICE YOU SEEK: State Representative District 78
AGE: 32
OCCUPATION: Self-Employed
EDUCATION: Williams College
NUMBER ONE CAMPAIGN FOCUS:
Reducing the tax burden, improving schools, and funding the $1 Billion Comprehensive Mobility Plan.
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM YOUR OPPONENT?
Energy, passion, accessibility to constituents and professional experience in recruiting and expanding businesses in the cross-border manufacturing industry. I quit my job at Verde Realty to fully dedicate myself to this campaign. I’ve personally visited over 2,000 homes within the district. I am a leader with a vision of an El Paso that is at the forefront of a population shift sweeping the state and nation and has the opportunity to lead Texas and the nation in innovative educational programs, a truly international economy and as North America’s medical hub. District 78 is roughly 50% Republican and 50% Democrat, therefore, it is going to take someone who can energize the electorate to win this election.
RELEVANT EXPERIENCE THAT QUALIFIES YOU FOR THE POSITION YOU SEEK:
Fortune 500 recruitment (promoting and generating business growth in the region), U.S.- Mexico business relations through warehousing and distribution business, creation of and engagement in programs that improve our transportation infrastructure (Borderland Mobility Coalition), student success (Community Scholars) and cultural vitality (Chalk The Block and Museum of History Foundation).
DESCRIBE A MOMENT THAT CHANGED YOUR LIFE:
Seeing the changes at my school in the Santa Gertrudis ISD. When I began school, 60% of students were dropping out of high school by the tenth grade. Today, due to changes in curriculum and the addition of an early-college program, the district has a 100% graduation rate and the students earn 60 hours of college credit along their way to a post-secondary degree.
