Arrest Of 5 Clears Several Auto Theft Cases, Police Say

The Auto Theft Task Force has arrested five men and cleared numerous cases in a local auto theft ring that included that spanned from East El Paso to Las Cruces.

The men arrested were Edgar Rodriguez of the 7400 blk Phoenix in El Paso, Jesus Macias Jr. of the 12000 blk Rinaldi in San Elizario, Manuel Hernandez of the 1500 blk Mundy block in El Paso, Leobardo Macias of the 12000 blk Rinaldi in San Elizario and Jorge Sanchez of the 500 blk Glenwood in El Paso,

This month, the Auto Theft Task Force began several investigations of stolen vehicles that had occurred throughout the city.

The arrests clears 15 local theft of vehicle cases and six local attempted theft of vehicle cases. Nine out-of-town cases are being investigated.
