UPDATE: Girl Rescued From Fiery Crash Has Surgery

The daughter of a young mother killed in a fiery crash on Wednesday had surgery at a Lubbock, Texas burn center on Saturday.

Priscilla Cerino, 8, will remain at the Lubbock hospital for at least another two months, according to relatives. Saturday, surgeons removed skin from her leg and transplanted it to her stomach and arms. She still needs a skin transplant for her face.

Edgar Cerino, 2, has been released from a local hospital.

Both children were inside their mother’s SUV when it rolled over on I-10 Wednesday. Their mother, 24-year-old Karla Cerino, died as the SUV caught fire. She was unable to get out of her car because her foot was stuck in the vehicle.

However, she did manage to get her children out of the burning vehicle with the help of several people who stopped to help.

The family has set up an account at Wells Fargo for donations to help the two children. The account number is 298-683-2786.

A memorial service will he held for her at Our Lady of Sorrow next Thursday at 10 a.m.
