Norma Favela Defeats Incumbent Gilbert Sanchez In District Clerk Race

Challenger Norma Favela has declared victory over incumbent Gilbert Sanchez in the race for District Clerk, the only county-wide race on the runoff ballot in El Paso.

After final election results were released, Favela has 12,484 votes or 75 percent of the vote, while Sanchez has 4,129 votes or 25 percent of the vote.

Favela will serve a four-year term.

Sanchez, who has been indicted in the ongoing public corruption investigation, has held the office of District Clerk since 2002. Favela is the Chief Deputy Tax Assessor-Collector.
