Man Convicted Of Murdering El Paso Woman In Denton Has 50-Year Sentence Overturned

The Second Court of Appeals in Fort Worth has overturned a 50-year sentence in a Denton murder trial and sent it back for another sentencing hearing, according to a report in the Denton Record Chronicle.

Sean Kresse, 26, pleaded guilty in May 2009 to the 2007 murder of El PasoanLorena ?Lori? Sandoval. Kreese went before the jury assessed 50 years after hearing testimony, but Kresse?s attorneys, Rick Hagen and Sarah Roland, appealed on the grounds that the judge improperly instructed jurors and improperly allowed a witness to testify to hearsay.

Sandoval was a University of North Texas business student from El Paso who would have graduated in May 2008. She and Kresse had dated but were not in a relationship in September 2007, when he strangled her in her apartment, according to the Denton Record Article.
