Immunize El Paso Outreach Bus Information
Immunize El Paso has added an Outreach Bus to its resources as a way of providing low-cost immunizations to El Paso area families.
The vehicle was unveiled this week during the El Paso Immunization Stakeholder Summit, an event in commemoration of National Infant Immunization Week, April 24th through May 1st.
“The newest addition to our outreach fleet will help us serve identified pockets of need in El Paso County,” said Dusty Warden, outreach coordinator, Immunize El Paso in a news release. “We have the ability to visit families and provide needed vaccinations in the communities where they live and work.”
The outreach bus will be one of the primary tools used by Immunize El Paso. It will support the Immunize El Paso staff in providing consistent, year-round services to child care centers, schools and community events throughout the area. The vehicle will serve the borderland area and amend their fleet of several outreach vehicles currently in operation.
“This new outreach vehicle will help us continue to connect El Pasoans to the resources they need to eliminate the barriers to immunization. Inconvenient clinic hours, long wait times, transportation and cost have long been cited as hindrances to timely vaccination.” Warden said.
The program has provided more than 350,000 immunizations and is a proud contributor to El Paso’s improved immunization ratings. In 2009, Texas was ranked as the most improved state in the nation for early childhood immunizations (19-35 months).
