Tim Floyd Lands Another Recruit

UTEP Men’s Basketball Coach Tim Floyd has landed another high-profile recruit.

Desmond Lee, a 6′ 4″, 180-pound guard from Norfolk, Virginia, signed a national letter of intent, and will join the Miners for the 2010-2011 season, according to UTEP’s athletics department.

Lee is a teammate of forward Michael Haynes, another UTEP signee. Both Lee and Haynes played at Heat Academy in Martinsville, Virginia.

Lee helped lead Heat Academy to a 36-4 record and a No. 4 national ranking by USPrepBasketball.com. He starred in two sports at Booker T. Washington High School in Norfolk, Virginia, playing basketball and football.

He helped his high school reach the Group AAA state tournament for the third time in four years, and was a two-time first team All-District player and a two-time All-Eastern Region honoree on the hardwood.

In football at his high school, Lee played free safety in his first season and quarterback in his second.
