Man Charged With Sex Assault Of 13-Year-Old He Met On MySpace

Dona Ana County Sheriff’s investigators have charged and arrested a 30-year-old man with five counts of criminal sexual penetration in the second degree after meeting a 13-year-old girl on MySpace.

Fidel H. Ramirez, 30, of the 730 block of Lariat in Las Cruces, was arrested on Thursday.

According to sheriff’s investigators the girl reported the incident to Sierra Middle School personnel, who in turn contacted law enforcement.

The girl reported that she met Ramirez through MySpace and that Ramirez did tell the girl he was 30. The girl reportedly told Ramirez that she was 14, according to sheriff’s officials.

Ramirez allegedly picked the girl up from school before school began and took the girl to his residence where he allegedly had sexual intercourse with her.

The girl, prior to leaving the residence, was able to find a piece of mail with Ramirez’s address on it.

Ramirez is currently being detained at the Dona Ana County Detention Center under a $25,000 bond.
