Man Tries To Hide From El Paso Police Under Stuffed Animals At Carnival
A Lower Valley man allegedly tried to hit a police officer with a vehicle and then hid under stuffed animals at a carnival after the officer tried to pull him over for not wearing a seatbelt.
David Caro, 20, of the 8700 block of Iglecias, was driving a 1994 maroon Nissan Maxima west bound on Alameda at Americas without a seat belt Thursday afternoon, according to police officials..
A motorcycle officer attempted to stop Caro for the violation when Caro allegedly fled and refused to stop. Police say Caro fled west on Alameda, allegedly trying to hit the marked police officer, and headed to Zaragoza and Gateway East where he left the vehicle and ran to a carnival area and hid in a booth with stuffed animals.
He was captured when police saw his tennis shoes sticking out from under the teddy bears. where another motorcycle officer was.
Caro was taken into custody and booked on bonds of $23,000. He is charged with Evading Arrest and Aggravated Assault Against a Public Servant.
