Community Members Help Clean Up Streets In Sparks

A group of community members spent some time cleaning up the streets of Sparks this past weekend.

The organization received a $73,000 grant to get the community involved in the fight against illegal dumping. Volunteers from Keep El Paso Beautiful, Socorro, and El Paso Water Utilities put the grant to good use Saturday, getting together to pick up tires and trash in Sparks, near Horizon City.

These volunteers took the task seriously. “I don’t want it to be an El Paso with litter. I want it to be a beautiful El Paso,” said Alejandro Rubio, a member of Socorro High School’s JROTC helping with the cleanup.

Keep El Paso Beautiful is also using community meetings to talk to residents about what they can do to fight illegal dumping.
