Shooting Occurs Near Downtown Bridge

U.S. Border Patrol officials are confirming a shooting on the border just yards away from the Santa Fe bridge in Downtown El Paso.

It happened sometime after 7:30 Monday night. Although, eyewitnesses tell ABC-7 a teen was shot and killed by an agent, no U.S. authority is confirming that account.

One witness told ABC-7 the agent fired his gun at a young man running back into Mexico after rocks were thrown at that agent by a group of men trying to make entry into the U.S. That same witness, who chose to remain anonynmous, also said she saw a lifeless body of a young man lying face up on the ground after the shots rang out. The FBI is investigating the case as is protocol anytime a federal officer is possibly involved in a shooting. Stay tuned to ABC-7 and KVIA.com for the latest on this still developing story.
