Sources: Mexican Teen Killed Was Known Alien Smuggler
New information has emerged on the deadly shooting of a 15-year-old Mexican boy by a U.S. Border Patrol agent.
Two federal sources familiar with the investigation told ABC-7 that Sergio Adrian Hernandez Huereka was a well-known juvenile smuggler. In addition to having a long rap sheet, he was also on El Paso’s juvenile smuggler’s list and was charged with alien smuggling back in 2007.
While the U.S. had registered the teen as a criminal, across the border he was seen as just a teenager who liked soccer and earned A’s and B’s in school. He is scheduled to be buried today.
ABC-7 also learned that there is video of the incident that has been obtained by the FBI that, according to the agency, shows “at least a good portion of what happened” near the Paso Del Norte Bridge on Monday evening.
The FBI also confirmed to the Associated Press that Mexican soldiers pointed their rifles from across the river and chased away U.S. Border Patrol agents who were investigating the shooting which is consistent with what an eye witness told ABC-7 the night of the shooting.
