Sales Of World Cup Items On The Rise At Area Stores
From bars to shops and sporting goods stores, the month-long 2010 World Cup will be an economic boon, as fans spend money to show support for their favorite teams.
Managers at Academy Sports in West El Paso say they’ve already seen a spike in sales, especially for U.S. and Mexico jerseys.
“About two weeks ago, we’ve been selling out as quick as we’ve been getting them in from our distribution center,” said Joseph Borrego, manager for Academy Sports.
Borrego says they are restocking jerseys and other soccer paraphernalia on a daily basis.
