Aerial Fireworks Not Banned This Summer

El Paso County Commissioners will not ban aerial fireworks this summer.

Monday’s decision wass based on the National Forest Service’s drought index for the county. That is an assessment of how prime conditions are for a fire.

The county’s drought index has to be lower than 575 for missile and winged fireworks to be allowed in the county. The index was 517.
