Elderly Man Convicted In Horizon City Murder Arrested In New York Years Later

A 70-year-old man Horizon City man convicted of murder years ago was arrested Thursday in the Village of Hoosick Falls, New York.

Edward M. Young was taken into custody without incident by the Hoosick Falls Police Dept. and the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Department.

In September of 1991, Young shot and killed his stepdaughter with a shotgun in Horizon City. Young was convicted and sentenced to 60 years in the Texas Department of Corrections but was out on appeals bond and later absconded.

Young was wanted on a criminal warrant for murder intentionally causing death with a $100,000 bond. Young is now awaiting extradition back to El Paso.
